Sometimes a tooth is simply too damaged to save, or a wisdom tooth is causing trouble. When removal is genuinely the right call, we make it as calm and comfortable as possible. We'll always talk you through why it's needed and, where it matters, how to replace the tooth afterwards so the gap doesn't cause problems down the track.

When removal makes sense
We only take a tooth out when keeping it isn't in your best interest: for example a tooth broken or decayed beyond repair, severe gum disease that's loosened it, or a baby or adult tooth that needs to come out to make room as part of a plan. Wisdom teeth are their own story. Many sit perfectly happily and are best left alone, but if one is impacted, only partly through, or causing pain, repeated infections or crowding, removing it is usually the sensible move. An X-ray shows us exactly how a wisdom tooth is positioned, and we'll give you a straight answer on whether it genuinely needs to go. We won't remove one that's doing no harm.
Replacing the tooth
For teeth other than wisdom teeth, leaving a gap can let the neighbouring teeth drift and the bite change over time, so we'll talk through your options, an implant, bridge or denture, depending on the tooth and what suits you. There's no rush and no pressure; it's simply worth knowing the options so you can plan.
Afterwards
A little rest, simple pain relief and soft foods for a day or two usually does it. We'll give you easy aftercare, including how to protect the area so it heals cleanly, and we're only a phone call away if anything doesn't feel right.
