We use tooth-coloured composite that's matched to the exact shade of your enamel, so the repair blends in and no one, including you, will spot it. Catching decay early keeps a quick, affordable filling from turning into a crown or a root canal later on.

Who needs a filling
Most people will need one at some point. The usual reasons are a cavity picked up at a check-up, a tooth that's become sensitive to sweet or cold, or a small chip from biting something hard. Composite is also brilliant for tidying up cosmetic niggles: a worn edge, a small gap, or a chipped front tooth can often be built back up in the same appointment. If you've got older silver (amalgam) fillings that are breaking down or that you'd simply rather not see when you laugh, we can usually replace them with tooth-coloured composite.
Why tooth-coloured composite
Beyond the obvious, that it's invisible, composite actually bonds to the tooth, which means we can keep more of your healthy enamel than the older silver fillings that had to be cut a certain shape to stay in. It sets hard straight away, so you can eat once the numbness wears off, and it's mercury-free. For a heavily broken-down tooth we'll be straight with you about whether a filling will really last or whether a crown is the more sensible long-term fix.

Often, yes. Failing or dark amalgams can usually be swapped for tooth-coloured composite. We check each one first.
