Bonding or veneers?
Bonding and veneers solve similar problems in different ways, and the honest answer is that each has its place. Bonding is quicker, gentler on the tooth and easier on the wallet: composite is added and sculpted in one visit, and it can be repaired or refreshed easily down the track. Veneers are a bigger, longer-lasting commitment that suits larger changes across several teeth, deep discolouration, or teeth that need more reshaping. Because bonding removes little or no tooth, it also keeps your options open: you can always move to veneers later, but not the other way around. We'll look at your teeth and tell you plainly which one fits your situation.

Looking after bonded teeth
Composite is strong, but it's not invincible. Treat bonded edges the way you'd treat your natural front teeth: don't crack nuts, chew pens or open packets with them, and keep up your normal brushing, flossing and check-ups. Composite can pick up staining a little faster than enamel, so go easy on heavy coffee, tea and red wine in the first couple of days and keep up regular cleans. With sensible care, bonding typically looks good for years, and if a corner ever chips or dulls, it's usually a quick and simple job to repair or re-polish it.
